SuperScan puts you in charge and makes shopping

at Superquinn faster. With the old way of shopping,

everything you buy is scanned at the checkout.

With SuperScan, you scan items as you shop, with a

special hand held scanner that you operate yourself.

How Does SuperScan Work?

1: Have your Superquinn reward card and shopping bags ready when you come into the store. If you don't have any, or would like to know how to use them, please ask for details at the Customer Service Desk.

2: Put your bags in a trolley, take them to the SuperScan dispenser and hold your Superquinn reward card under the scanner. A flashing light will tell you which SuperScan handset to use. Just pick it up and take it with you. It will scan your shopping and provide you with a running total of your shopping bill.

3: When you have chosen an item you want to purchase, just point your handset about 2-3 inches away from the bar-code and press the "+" button. The price will be displayed immediately on your handset. If you don't want an item already selected, press the "-" and scan the bar-code, and it will be deducted from your bill. You then just leave the item back on the shelf.

4: To find out your running total, press the "=" button. The total cost of your shopping so far will then be displayed on the handset, so you always know exactly how much you are spending. If there are any items which you cannot scan, put them to one side and let the operator know at the checkout.

5: When you have finished shopping, you simply return to the SuperScan dispenser unit and replace your handset in any empty slot. A SuperScan slip will then be printed. Just bring it to the checkout and pay.

6: Proceed to the checkout and present your SuperScan slip along with any items which your were not able to scan. Any adjustments to the total will be made by the operator. You will then receive a normal itemised receipt and your Superquinn reward points and all other details will be included in the usual way.

Tips For Using Superscan

Using bags with Superscan
Superquinn’s reusable bags are the easiest and most convenient way for you to sort your groceries as you shop. The bags are sturdy so your groceries are protected, and because you can use them again and again you are helping to protect the environment from unnecessary waste. By using reusable bags instead of the plastic bags, your journey through the checkout is faster, and, thanks to our specially designed trolleys, your trip around the store is easier too.

What do I do if there is no barcode?
Most branded products have a clearly displayed bar code, but some loose items, like apples or bread rolls, may not. With fruit and vegetables there will be two bar codes displayed, one for a bulk purchase, the other for individual items. So if apples are 6 for €1, and you want 6, you just scan the bar code for the bulk price. If you only want 1, you scan the bar code for the single item price.

Just How accurate is SuperScan?
For your benefit as well as ours, and for the sake of accuracy, the computer system in-store will randomly select shopping for rechecking. Sometimes your shopping will be checked. No one knows the result of the check and, as a rule, the more accurate you are with SuperScan, the less frequently you are likely to be checked.
