Farmed Irish Salmon

Irish consumers, quite rightly, expect the very

highest standards in food production and want

to know the origin of the food they eat.

hey demand, and look for, proof of excellence from growers through to suppliers across all food sectors. That is why BIM is introduced the Quality Seafood Programme.

BIM has devised industry standards for farmed seafood that form the basis for quality assurance schemes all independently audited and certified by a European Standard Accredited body. To help you distinguish farmed seafood produced under the approved schemes, these products carry the symbol.

Superquinn is the only Supermarket in Ireland allowed to sell farmed Salmon under the QSP label. It's your assurance that the Salmon you buy is of the highest quality and is guaranteed 100% Irish. This unique scheme means that each salmon is traceable from its point of origin all the way to the fresh seafood counter at your local Superquinn store.

How does this work?

When Salmon is farmed it is brought to a factory where it is cleaned, graded and packed with ice in a polystyrene box. Each box is given a unique bar-code, which corresponds to the farm from which the salmon originated and the production date. This bar-code stays with the salmon all the way through to the fresh seafood counter at your local Superquinn, so at any point we can trace the salmon back to the farm from which it came.
