Animal feeds and farms

All Superquinn fresh chickens are fed on a specially developed healthy diet consisting of a mainly grain based feed of wheat, barley and soya beans - a diet that contains no antibiotic growth promoters, no artificial hormones and no meat and bone meal. All Superquinn fresh Irish chicken is approved under the Bord Bia Quality Assurance Scheme for Irish Chicken. We only deal with Superquinn Quality Assured Farms located in Ireland and work hand in hand with our suppliers in developing innovative quality and safety processes that go well beyond normal quality assurance standards. Our chickens are reared in open planned houses and have "on demand" access to water and feed. All Superquinn farms are formally audited by external independent auditors and company personnel

Traceability

Every piece of Superquinn Fresh Chicken is 100% Irish and can be traced back to its farm of origin. From the breeding farm where eggs are laid to the hatchery and growing farms, traceability is fundamental to our operations. Throughout the growing period, daily records are maintained including details of weight gain, water consumption and in-house temperature so there is complete history of the welfare of each bird. All feed comes from dedicated poultry feed mill and can be traced to raw ingredients, which in turn come from selected and regularly audited suppliers. The complete traceability from farm to plate ensures you only get the safest, freshest chicken. To become a Superquinn Chicken, it has to pass a series of tests. It must be 100% Irish and antibiotic free. And if it's not reared in open plan housing, it has no place in our home. Superquinn chickens are fed by our quality assured growers so look out for our farmers' name on every label, as it's our guarantee to you our customer, of tracability from farm to plate.
